Barbecue Sauce (AVF)

Use on beef, poultry or pork.

Yield: 3 cups

Prep: 15 minutes

Cooking: 30-45 minutes

Ingredients

1 medium
1 cup
4 cloves
4 cups
2 cup
2 cups
2 cups
1 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
1 tablespoons
3/4 cup To taste

Onion, minced
Finely chopped bell pepper
Garlic, minced
Ketchup
Cider vinegar
Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey
Packed brown sugar
Ground thyme
Dry mustard
1 tablespoons Dry sage
Worcestershire sauce
Pepper sauce

Directions
  1. In a Dutch oven or heavy saucepan, sauté onions and bell peppers until onions are softened; add garlic and ketchup. Continue cooking 2-3 minutes to darken the ketchup.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients and blend well.
  3. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer uncovered to reduce by half. Set half of this sauceaside, keeping it warm.
  4. Mop or brush meat with sauce during the last half of the cooking time.
  5. Serve meat with reserved sauce spooned over meat, or serve on the side for dipping.
